How to change a company name?
There are several reasons why people change company names. You may have formed a company with the wrong name, or a misspelling, or your business may move in a new direction that requires a more suitable company name. If you wish to rename your company then you will need to file a name change application with Companies House.
We provide a company name change service that may be of benefit to you. Alternatively you can file the name change yourself online or by filing a paper form.

Paper Applications
You can apply to change your name by post. This requires the completion of form NM01 and a company resolution. The written resolution and form NM01 must be completed by a company officer or shareholder and sent to Companies House with the required payment depending on the speed of service required-
Quick Service – Same Day Name Change. Certificate of name change is issued on the day of receipt and posted to you.
Slow Service – 5-7 Day Name Change. Certificate of name change is issued in approximately 5-7 working days from receipt of documentation.
Online Applications
It is also possible to change your company name online. This requires registration at Companies House for web filing services and speeds up the service considerably. Online there are two services-
Same Day – Quick online (if ordered before 3pm) name change (normally accepted in an hour or two)
2-3 Day Service – Filed online, this is still quite a quick name change (this is often completed in a day, but times do vary)
To complete an online name change you will need to register online at Companies House and have your company authentication code to hand.
