Service Address for Directors

Officers of UK registered companies can provide a ‘service address’ to Companies House. The service address is the only address that can be viewed by the public and is often used to keep residential addresses private.

Under the Companies Act 2006 it is possible for a company director to avoid placing their home address on the public section of Companies House registers. Directors can now provide two addresses to Companies House. This can be done when forming a new company, updating directors details with Companies House form CH01 or by filing the Confirmation Statement.

What is a service address for directors or LLP members?

A company director or LLP member can now submit two addresses to Companies House when forming a new company/LLP or when updating a director’s details.

Home Address All directors are required to provide their home address to Companies House. This information can be accessed by Companies House employees, the police, banks, and credit checking agencies that have the required authority. It cannot be accessed by members of the public. If you do not provide your real home address it will cause problems opening bank accounts and satisfying identity checks.

Service Address Directors and LLP members can provide a service address ‘in addition’ to the home address. This is sometimes referred to as a ‘correspondence address’. This information is placed on Companies House public records and can be accessed by anyone. This service address can be the same as the director’s home address however many directors now choose to use their office, their accountants or a service provider’s address instead. This prevents a director’s home address from being added to the online public register and becoming public information for anyone to see.

Avoid making your director’s home address public knowledge

If you do not wish to disclose your own address when registering a company or want to remove your address from the existing records then simply purchase our registered office address or fixed price address service. Both of these services include the use of our address for director or LLP members as their service and best of all, we do not charge anymore for doing this! This free service includes the receipt and forwarding of official government mail and clearly marked legal mail.

Free directors service address

If you purchase any of our address services for a UK company or LLP, you can use the address as a FREE service address.

Simply order your preferred address option and make the address the service address for the directors or LLP members.

To ensure mail sent to the company director’s service address can be identified you will need to add the company name to the first line of the address at Companies House as shown in our below address examples. Mail received in a director’s name without the company name is unlikely to be identified correctly. This free service only includes mail received from UK government organisations and clearly identifiable legal mail and is offered on this understanding.

If the company directors wish to receive non-government mail and any other general mail and/or do not wish to include the company name in the first line of their directors service address then we can still help. We offer various mail forwarding services that can cover mail in personal names as well as business names. Please contact us if you need assistance selecting the correct service.
